According to
TASS, a spokesperson for a Russian state
medical institute (Gamalei Institute) claims that they will have a coronavirus vaccine ready for production in
September. The Institute is working together with a medical lab of the defense
department. Clinical trials have been underway starting in June and will be
completed by August at which time the vaccine will be registered with the
appropriate authorities. The vaccine will be ready for use before the end of
2020.
This seems
like a highly expedited schedule, and there are few details concerning the
clinical trials. (I wonder if it will be tested on the military). Could it be that the Russian government wanted to release some
“good news” before the July 1 referendum that allows President Vladimir Putin
two more terms of office?
We can all hope for a surprise Russian success.
